Leg Workout Aerial Massage
Aerial ashiatsu, deceptively comfortable in what a great full body and leg workout you are actually realizing as the giver! So many massage therapists I know suffer from debilitating back pain, which later results in numbness and surgery. Overuse injury is the #1 REASON an average massage therapy career lasts only 5 years! Unlike traditional massage, Aerial massage feels very comfortable to you as the giver and actually helps maintain great form so that you can continue growing your massage career for as long as you want to! Stop breaking your back stooped over a massage table now! Aerial massage is even kinder to your body than bar and mat ashiatsu. Whereas giving a mat or bar ashiatsu feels like a serious arm and ab workout, aerial shiatsu feels like youre swinging in a hammock. Arial works your brain and gives you a nice leg workout. Dont get me wrong though, because your arms are busy sailors, pulling your ship along. So are your abs in helping your arms and keeping your body transition from and stay ancored in the various positions. The swing always goes underneath your body mass to support it, so its easy to stay aligned when administering aerial massage. Thats why it feels fluid and comfortable. You can easily transition from one move to the next and cover the whole body with one swooping stroke. Aerial looks easy, but actually it challenges your critical thinking. Think of aerial like a puzzle. I ask myself: How would I reach this muscle and then administer the best angling and pressure in a fluid comfortable way? This becomes intuitive with practice, and lends to creative tweaks and new moves all the time!
Aerial is Fun
Clients often tell me I look like Im having fun when doing aerial massage 🙂 Yes Aerial ashiatsu offers that mind body challenge I enjoy. Skiing or skating all over the body, doing 360 loops and weaving in and out of silks is entertaining to watch as well as to perform. Often when I hit a spot just right or trace a perfect path, clients look to see how Im positioning and l leveraging myself. Many times this angle or path would be bio mechanically taxing and awkward at best if only holding onto bars or doing with hands and arms. Aerial allows me to give an acceptionally smooth yet deep full body massage, while getting a great leg workout and saving my back. I am giving your Think of aerial massage as tool with broad application. It will yield more and more benefits for you and your client as you keep practicing 🙂
Why aerial ashiatsu for front of body?
In fact aerial works great for the posterior. However, there are a few moves on the posterior body that require “body drops” and straight down pressure, best done holding to the bar. Working front of the body simply doesnt call for those techniques in my experience.

Thai massage lends stretching aspects to ashiatsu. many times I refer to ashiatsu when in fact most of my ashiatsu videos involve elements of Thai massage as well. Ashi Thai fusion has become popular and these two related techniques compliment each other beautifully.
