What is Kinesiology Massage?
Consider a kinesiology massage as a type of body detective work. Instead of merely placing their hands where you say it hurts, we begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your movement, posture, and tension. Your massage therapist, through muscle testing, is able to “speak” to your body and understand the issues that are not visible. This is akin to solving the problem rather than just covering up the symptoms. That is how we achieve long-term pain relief.
Why Choose Kinesiology Massage for Pain Relief?
Most of the time chronic pain isn’t caused by the spot that hurts. Muscles compensate for other muscles until everything is out of whack. One of the things that we do with our clients is muscle testing, which helps us find the hidden patterns. Based on what your body is telling us, we can develop a healing plan that progresses as you do. No generic treatment plans here—every appointment is tailored to your needs on that day.
- Actual chronic pain relief (not just temporary)
- Improved posture and movement
- Relaxed and more energy
- Decreased swelling and inflammation
- Better sleep
- Reduced stress and
- Improved balance
How Does This Massage Therapy Work?
Techniques include acupressure, gentle lymphatic massage, trigger point release, and fascia release for optimal results. ActiveHealing uses both magnet therapy and kinesiology tape to gently guide and facilitate your body’s innate healing process. Additionally, you are given tailored home exercises for lasting improvement and are highly encouraged to take advantage of our FunFit program! FunFit reeducates your body to kick old patterns and have fun in the process!
A typical session lasts at least 80 minutes. Over several sessions, your therapist addresses all patterns of compensation. Each visit builds on the last, leading to profound, lasting change. Below are some major physiological systems that can be greatly helped.
Your session is tailored to your needs, combining various techniques:
- Deep Tissue – Works through stubborn, chronically tight muscles
- Trigger Point – Eases painful tension points
- Fascia Release – Unsticks tissues for better movement
- Lymphatic Drainage – Aids detox and decreases swelling Acupressure – Works on your body’s self-healing points
- Visceral Manipulation – Addresses restrictions around internal organs
We incorporate magnet therapy and kinesiology tape to facilitate healing between sessions. You’ll also get homework in the form of personalized movement exercises—because the most effective healing involves your active participation.
And if you want to reset your body and get rid of those old patterns, our FunFit program is designed to assist with this. Most clients prefer an 80-minute session. We peel away the layers of compensation your body has developed over time. Each session is cumulative, allowing you to achieve more profound and lasting changes.

A typical session lasts at least 80 minutes. Over several sessions, your therapist addresses all patterns of compensation. Each visit becomes a building block for the next. Below are some major physicological systems that can be greatly helped.
Nervous System
Gentle pressure stimulates sensory receptors which then send signals to the brain. Vagus nerve is a main focus here along with fight or flight. Normalizing and facilitating balance between them is our goal. You get a lower heart rate, reduced cortisol, and deep restful sleep. Naturally this work eases pain but also enhances mental clarity, memory and emotional stability.
Vascular System
Kinesiology massage can locate ischemic areas and gently restore blood flow. This can oftentimes normalize blood pressure throughout your body! Subsequently, this fosters better delivery of oxygen and nutrients to organs and muscles, that are sending pain signals.
Toxicity and Detox
Through muscle testing kinesiology massage can recognize toxicity and trace its origin. Most of the time lymphatic blockages accompany vascular disbalances. However, toxicity may be also caused by organ and chemical disbalance. Gentle manual techniques help restore blood fand lymph flow and may include visceral massage. As a result, you feel lighter and pain free from reduced inflammation.
Emotional Health
Kinesiology massage also helps release emotional tension trapped in the nervous circuit as well as the body’s tissues. Muscle testing can identify links between physical pain and stress triggers or blocked emotions. Many times emotions come as the first problem, the first onion ring to tackle. As for resolving more deep seated emotional residues, it may take more consistent work such as regression therapy. Emotional release activates endorphin, serotonin, and dopamine release which, in turn, elevates mood and reduces anxiety. Many clients have experienced lasting stress relief, renewed confidence, and a sense of emotional equilibrium.

Questions People Usually Ask
I have chronic pain. How often should I come in?
As a general guideline we suggest weekly 80 minute sessions. However, twice per week or biweekly may also work. That largely depends on your willingness to do homework therapy! Sessions will become more spaced out as you start feeling better and you build new habits.
Will insurance cover my massage?
You should check with your carrier. Health insurance plans are starting to include therapeutic massage. They may require a short description or just an invoice. Sometimes a doctor prescription is required. Just check with your carrier and we’ll give you all the documentation you need for reimbursement.
Is this like a spa massage?
Not really. Spa massages are great for relaxation, but we’re specifically working to fix pain and improve how your body functions. Think clinical + therapeutic rather than just nice and relaxing (though it can definitely feel relaxing too!).
Will I need more than one session?
Honestly? Probably. Most people need somewhere between 4-8 sessions to really address the compensation patterns that built up over months or years. Each session builds on the one before, so you get progressively better results.
Our Approach is Research-Backed
We’re not just making this up—our massage therapy techniques are supported by real science from the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), Journal of Applied Physiology, Mayo Clinic, Harvard Health Publishing, and the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK).
